Thank you for your work to document the effects of the Gulf oil spill. Just one comment, in the video titled “Gina”, she is identified as working for the “national resource defense council”. NRDC actually stands for Natural Resources Defense Council”. Keep up the good work…

I totally agree….and actually, after the event, I thought how absolutely ridiculous it was that the police could FORCE us to go onto the Conoco-Phillips property and the security building. The fact that they even had the authority to make us do that is weird and kind of freaky.
They actually didn’t make us erase our images…but then again, they thought that they were simply still images. They were actually thumbnails of the video that we took. Nevertheless, I just think it’s criminal that what we did is considered illegal, whereas everyone has access to much better satellite images. Where’s our freedom of the press?

Hey, guess what? A couple of years ago (and a couple of years after Katrina), my friend and I got busted for taking pictures of the Tennessee Natural Gas Co. facility just off Highway 23 in Plaquemines Parish. We had only taken one picture and we agreed to let them erase it. But it was a new camera, it was getting late and we were tired; so we left the camera with them to figure out how to erase it, which they did, and in the morning we picked it up – the one picture erased. Funny to hear that someone else went through this. The facility couldn’t be more than 50 yards off the highway, with no fence, just a little gatehouse. Maybe they should put up NO PHOTOGRAPHY signs!

To the Riter family…thank you so much for your support and your words. It means so much to me. This experience has been so powerful for Devon and me, and we look forward to returning to continue what we have started. Your support means the world to us. Awesome! Go ahead and send them our way (christi.kuhn@gmail.com). We’ve learned a lot about the Bayous from the Attakapa Indians that we have met. I’m still stunned by the photo I saw a couple days ago of the 64,000 miles of oil pipelines that course through the Bayou wetlands. It’s sickening…

Glad to see your note, Christi, and glad to see you’re both picking up on the fact that things have been changing on the bayous for a long, long time.

I’ve got a few pics from Lake De Cade and the Falgout canal area I’ll send along in an email, along with a satellite view so you can get the lay of the land. I certainly didn’t know there were “rig parking lots” scattered around inland, but there are.
